How it works

What is a GPO?

A group purchasing organization, or GPO, is a buying group. Clinics, practices and health organizations join together so they can buy medications the way a large hospital system does: with negotiated prices, vetted suppliers and one point of contact.

We coordinate the order. Licensed partner pharmacies make, dispense and ship it.

What licensed providers can request

Compounded and commercial preparations from licensed 503A pharmacies and 503B outsourcing facilities. Add items to a request and a representative will follow up with pricing for your practice.

Prescription only. Orders require a verified, licensed prescriber and, for 503A items, a patient-specific prescription. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. Pricing varies by volume and is shared after verification.

Polysubstance use

An overdose is often more than one drug.

73%

of stimulant overdose deaths also involved an opioid.

Across 309,274 U.S. overdose deaths from January 2021 to June 2024, 59% involved a stimulant, and most of those also involved an opioid such as fentanyl. People often don't know a second drug is in what they took.

Each square is 1 in 100 deaths. Filled squares had an opioid on board too.

The good news: deaths fell sharply in 2024

U.S. overdose deaths by drug involved. A death can involve more than one drug, so rows overlap.

Combinations that drive the risk

  • Fentanyl + stimulants: cocaine or meth cut with fentanyl. Behind 43% of overdose deaths, 2021–24.
  • Opioids + xylazine: a vet sedative naloxone can't reverse. Rose from 3% to 11% of fentanyl deaths, 2019–22.
  • Opioids + benzos or alcohol: each slows breathing, and together the effect compounds.
  • Counterfeit pills: look like prescriptions but may hold fentanyl. Deaths involving them more than doubled, 2019–21.

FAQs

Common questions

Does Broaddus Scientific Group dispense medications?

No. We do not manufacture, dispense or take title to any drug. Licensed third-party pharmacies and outsourcing facilities fill and ship every order, within the scope of their state licenses.

Who can become a member?

Licensed prescribers, clinics, telehealth companies and health organizations. We verify licenses and credentials before ordering is turned on.

What is the difference between 503A and 503B?

503A pharmacies compound for individual patients against a prescription and are overseen mainly by state boards. 503B outsourcing facilities register with the FDA, follow current good manufacturing practice, and may compound in bulk without patient-specific prescriptions.

How is the admin fee disclosed?

The fee percentage is written into your member agreement and shown on every contract price, so you can see what you pay and why.

Can you help when a drug is on the shortage list?

Often, yes. Depending on the item, a partner may offer an alternative strength, a different presentation, or a compounded version permitted while the drug is in shortage. Use Shortage Watch to send a request.

Where do you ship?

Orders ship within the United States only, from facilities licensed for the destination state.
